Jon has previously served in key leadership roles as CEO of the Public Relations Institute of Australia, Chief Executive of the Council on the Ageing (NSW) and Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Fundraising Institute Australia.

Amy Moon - Membership & Development Manager

Amy started out in the community broadcasting sector by volunteering at 2MBS and 2RRR.  After moving to Melbourne in 2006, Amy worked in a variety of roles in marketing and development in the performing arts, before returning to the sector to take up a position with 3MBS.  Before relocating to Sydney, Amy worked with the Community Broadcasting Foundation as a grants administrator, so she is well positioned to assist with any funding enquiries!   Amy recently completed a Masters of Arts (Management) at RMIT with a thesis on models of development in community organisations in Australia and she is delighted to be working in Membership and Development with the CBAA.

Rhonda Byrne - Administration & Operations Manager

Rhonda joined the CBAA in June, 2011. She spent the previous 6 years at Fairfax Media Ltd. where she led a large administration team with responsibilities for administrative, logistical and financial support to over 350 staff across Sydney Morning Herald and Sun Herald. Her work spanned the news desk, business, photographic, production and Readerlink departments and included project management and event & campaign planning. She now joins the CBAA as the Operations & Administration Manager.

Robin Carter - Finance and Administration Coordinator

Robin came to the CBAA from a professional photographic laboratory where he cared for the company accounts. This brought him into contact with many professional photographers and their work both in Sydney and overseas and reactivated his interest in photography. Robin’s accounting experience was initially acquired in the UK, where he worked for several large soft drink companies and included a wide range of projects with these companies both in the UK and overseas. Robin was born in Australia but educated in the UK. After time in Manchester and London Robin was more or less permanently frozen from the endless British winter and felt a change was needed. He returned to Australia in 2002.

Robin is the first point of call for all things accounting and financial.

Emma Couch - Administrative Assistant

Emma studied Journalism at the University of Western Sydney, completing a 1 year internship with Koori Radio in her final year of studies. During this time she worked on a news program with Sydney’s Community Television Station TVS, and a documentary for the Refugee Soccer Program, Football United.

After a short stint teaching English in Europe, Emma has returned to Sydney to get stuck into the wonderful world of Community Broadcasting.

Community Radio Network (CRN)

Seth Jordan - Content Services Manager

Sydney-based music journalist, festival consultant and long-time Community radio broadcaster Seth Jordan has joined the CBAA as its new Content Services Manager. He will be responsible for the management, operation and development of the CBAA’s national network services, including the Community Radio Network (CRN) satellite distribution service and the Digital Delivery Network (DDN).

In the past, Seth has served as both Station Manager & Program Manager at ArtSound FM in Canberra, and as Program Manager at 2MCE Bathurst. He was a founding member of Bellingen’s 2BBB, and most recently acted as Volunteers & Community Liaison Coordinator at Sydney’s 2SER. His own award-winning programs Radio Babylon and The Tiki Lounge were a staple of the Community Radio Network for many years, winning the CBAA Award for “Excellence in Music Programming”.

Seth is also the Australasian/Pacific correspondent for UK-based World music magazine Songlines, and regularly contributes features/reviews to Australian roots monthly Rhythms and ABC’s Limelight magazine. He was Coordinator/Contributing Editor for the recent Australia Council book project - World Music: Global Sounds in Australia (UNSW Press 2010), and wrote the Aussie chapter for the latest edition of The Rough Guide To World Music. A founder of the Bellingen Global Carnival, he also works as MC Coordinator for WOMADelaide, Earth Station, Peats Ridge Festival, and was Music Coordinator for Canberra’s National Multicultural Festival.

Martin Walters - CRN Operations Coordinator

Martin joined the CBAA as CRN Operations Coordinator in June 2007. Previous to this he held various roles in the media monitoring industry, and spent five years in community broadcasting in NZ. Please be advised that due to accent difficulties it may be easier to contact him via email. Also this will reduce the chances of him engaging you in a long-winded spiel about the latest injustices done to the NZ cricket team. As a confessed cricket tragic he has been assigned by medical authorities to undergo personality correction through immersion in Sydney’s psych rock scene. Therapy is still in progress.

Dan Callaghan - CRN Production Coordinator

By happy circumstance Dan had no choice but to get involved with community radio. Crashing wildly into uni with no idea what to do he decided on social sciences. It was excruciatingly dull. Some years later the administrators were allowed to push him out the other side with something called a 'Creative Industries' degree. The bit of paper he got at the end says it has something to do with 'social sciences', 'journalism' and 'audio engineering'...

Somehow it was enough for Brisbane's 4ZZZ to let Dan join their production department as a promotions producer then production coordinator, grant writer, archivist, trainer, and tech for events programs and outside broadcasts. Despite Brisbane being awesome, Sydney beckoned. Double-decker trains are still a novelty.

Australian Music Radio Airplay Project (AMRAP)

Chris Johnson - Manager

Chris Johnson has worked in the music industry for over ten years as a sound engineer, radio maker and new-media developer. Chris was the station manager of Edge Radio in Tasmania, which he successfully managed over its first five years. Chris was on the national Digital Radio Standing Committee, supporting community broadcaster’s transition into the digital radio age. He is on the Arts Tasmania panel, allocating state government grants and loans to Tasmanian artists, and on the Music Council of Australia, a 50-member national peak music organisation for Australia. Chris is a qualified audio technician, bachelor of journalism graduate, and skilled new media strategist. He won the 'Career Achievement' category at the 2006 Tasmanian Young Achiever awards.

He is now the manager of Amrap – The Australian Music Radio Airplay Project. He was appointed to manage Amrap in late October 2008 when the project was revitalised with funding. He is developing the service to suit the changing needs of the music and media industries and places a high priority on getting music to broadcasters and stations that matches their tastes and interests.

Brooke Olsen - Distribution Coordinator

Brooke Olsen has been working for AMRAP since November 2007. She is the Distribution Coordinator - assisting musicians with national airplay opportunities.

Brooke has been volunteering and working in community radio for 7 years, undertaking a number of roles in that time including; freelance producer, presenter, production assistant, panel trainer and training course co-coordinator. She interned at ABC Radio National (The Night Air) and has a Communications degree in Media Arts Production (University of Technology Sydney).

Currently she co-produces and presents FBi radio's experimental sound hour 'Sunday Night At the Movies'.

When she’s not at AMRAP, Brooke is co-running an independent venue/art space in Sydney's inner west. She also randomly puts on experimental / noise music gigs and djs for a pittance under the moniker ‘Corporal Leper’.

Ben Briedis - IT Programmer

Ben joined the CBAA in August 2009 in order to implement various web-based services for AMRAP. He has worked as a computer programmer in the fields of IT management, biotechnology, media and telephony systems. Ben has a PhD in Computer Science and a BA(Hons)/LLB, both from UNSW.

In his spare time he writes songs and performs them in many fine Sydney drinking institutions.

Ruben Thijssen - Junior Software Developer

Ruben Thijssen joined the CBAA in October 2011. Ruben is a recent Bachelor graduate of the Hogeschool Zeeland in the Netherlands, majoring in Software Engineering with a minor in IT-Security. Ruben has worked in a variety of  IT roles including software engineer and freelance back-end web-development for small businesses. Ruben will be working to further develop AirNet and AirIt.

Stephen Hahn - CBOnline Manager

Stephen worked in a number of media related roles, including analysis, campaigns and media management in Sydney before moving to Melbourne where he gained station level experiencing working as the Station Manager at JOY 94.9 and Station Administrator at 3RRRFM. Stephen has also been a Board Member of the Ross House Association and The Wilderness Society. Stephen returned to Sydney to take up his current role as CBOnline Manager.

Alex White – Digital Radio Project Assistant

Prior to joining the CBAA in 2010, Alex worked in youth and community services for 12 years and in a voluntary capacity has coordinated Lion Mountain Studio based at Radio Skid Row, Directed Electrofringe Festival, Liquid Architecture Sydney Festival and Serial Space. Alex is also an audio engineer and producer, he performs laptop based noise / experimental music and co-produces the music series High Reflections.
