Congratulations to the recipients of the 2017 CBAA Conference Scholarships.

Each of these 10 community broadcasters receives support valued at almost $1,200 to assist with costs to attend the CBAA Conference, as well as a Hindenburg licence for their station:

  • Brigid Barry - 6RPH, WA
  • Bronwen Hartas - 91.9 Fresh FM, QLD
  • Charitha Dissanayake - 3MDR, VIC
  • Del Gordon - 98.9 2WAR FM, NSW
  • Dianne Rankin - Fraser Coast FM 107.5, QLD
  • Faamaile Fonoti - CMS Radio, ACT
  • James Preston - Alive905, NSW
  • Narelle McGeoch - Radio Northern Beaches, NSW
  • Sharna Shea - 3KND, VIC
  • Sophie Sloane - Albany Community Radio 100.9FM, WA

These broadcasters will join more than 300 of their peers and participate in the largest annual gathering of the community radio sector in Australia, taking place in 2017 from 9 – 12 November on the Gold Coast. As delegates, they’ll have the chance to learn from sector and industry experts, meet broadcasters from all over the country and attend informative and hands-on sessions.

CBAA Chief Executive Officer Jon Bisset congratulates the scholarship recipients and looks forward to meeting them in Queensland later in the year.

"Congratulations to these ten community broadcasters on receiving a scholarship for this year’s CBAA Conference. We look forward to your valuable contributions to what is sure to be an action-packed couple of days. We're excited that this year 80% of recipients are from regional stations and three are under the age of 26. The jury commended all successful recipients on their strong applications, which clearly articulated their successes at their stations in the past two years, as well as how their attendance would benefit their station as a whole."

For others considering attending the CBAA Conference, further information and access to our earlybird registrations is available (register by the end of August to save $$).
