2019 Australia Day Honours for Community Broadcasters

Community radio hosts and station management are among recipients of this year's Australia Day Honours.

Australia Day Honours are given to recognise, celebrate and say thank you to those who:

  • make a difference
  • achieve their best
  • serve others

Receiving an Award acknowledges the hard work and dedication of community radio staff, and the important role that community radio plays in connecting communities.

Member of the Order of Australia (AM)

  • Sally Goldner (pictured) for service to the LGBTIQ+ community through founding Transgender Victoria and Transfamily. Sally is also a presenter on Melbourne’s 3CR and Joy 94.9FM.

Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM)

  • Stuart Kollmorgen, for service to LGTBIQ+ community through presenting Joy 94.9FM’s That Sports Show and involvement in the Midsumma festival.
  • Paul McGrath, service to broadcast media, particularly to radio. Paul is CEO of community radio’s 90.1 NBCFM Broadcast Centre.
  • Tim Thorpe, service to broadcast media, particularly to community radio. Tim is weekend station manager at Triple R, Melbourne.

The CBAA congratulates each recipient for their outstanding achievement and is grateful for their contributions to community radio.
