Artsound FM's Jim Mooney awarded Medal of the Order of Australia

Congratulations to Artsound FM's Jim Mooney, who was on the Queen's Birthday 2015 honour list, and awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia in the General Division over the weekend for his service to broadcast media as a radio presenter, and to the community. 

The details of his involvement at the station and in the arts are listed below:

  • Radio Presenter, ArtSound FM, since 1990s; Arts Liaison Officer, current; Board member, early 2000s.
  • Member, Friends of the Canberra Symphony Orchestra, many years.
  • Member, Friends of the Australian National University School of Music, many years.
  • Involved in the establishment of the International Chopin Piano Competition, Friends of Chopin Australia, 2010-2012.
  • A number of executive positions in a range of community organisations, including Vice-President, Theatre Organ Society;
  • Committee Member and Public Officer, Canberra City Opera;
  • Committee Member, Art Song Canberra (Formerly ACT Lieder Society);
  • Member, Management Committee, Griffin Centre; and Founding Member, Clavier Society.

Jim presents Classical Mood on Mondays from 1:30 - 3:30pm.
