We're pleased to announce today that we're extending the deadline for Awards nominations to 11:59pm AEST Sunday, 29 August 2021.

The extension gives community radio stations who have been experiencing challenges due to the latest lockdowns extra time to prepare their nominations. In addition, the Awards Force application platform used to manage nominations will be offline for maintenance for up to four hours on Sunday, 15 August – the day nominations were originally due to close.

Jon Bisset, CBAA’s CEO, said, “We are looking forward to celebrating our network of program makers, station managers and content creators’ accomplishments with them and hope the extra time will help those who want to to get their nominations in. These awards celebrate the sector’s innovation, perseverance and community champions. The year has been a challenging one and its more important than ever to highlight the people that make our stations and sector thrive.”

Community radio stations are invited to celebrate the people, programs and initiatives that make their stations excellent. Last year CBAA received over 300 entries and we are expecting even more this year!

The competition includes more than 30 diverse categories for stations, teams/individuals, initiatives and programs.

  • Station managers, celebrate how your station has pivoted this year to engage with your community by entering Excellence in Community Engagement, Excellence in Indigenous Engagement, Excellence in Ethnic and Multicultural Engagement or one of the Best Station Fundraising Campaign awards.
  • Programmers and content creators, nominate for outstanding work in categories like Contribution to Australian Music – Initiative, Best Station Production or Excellence in News & Current Affairs Programming, or Excellence in Indigenous Broadcasting.
  • Stations where your people have gone above and beyond can enter one of the major categories like the Tony Staley Award, the Michael Law Award, the Station Leadership Award or Outstanding Small Station Award.
