The CBAA is pleased to present the August 2012 content of our national suicide prevention and mental health awareness project, developed with the support of the Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing.

Each month, our project team develops a series of 20 short radio segments designed to promote help-seeking behaviour and positive lifestyle choices, using interviews with service providers, as well as profiles of people who have successfully dealt with tough times in their lives.

This month we profile Lifeline Australia’s online crisis chat service, which provides people who prefer to make contact online with quick and easy access to help and support.

We look ahead to R U OK?Day on September 13, a day when people are encouraged to reach out to anyone they know who might be doing it tough, and to ask them if they’re okay.

We catch up with the team at SANE Australia to find out about some of the resources they’ve developed for people bereaved by suicide, and their friends and family.

We also profile a range of suicide prevention and mental health services and programs, including Partners in Depression, headspace, Lifeline Australia, Children of Parents with a Mental Illness, SANE Australia, and the Suicide Call Back Service.

More information, including downloadable mp3's of the August content, is available here.
