Welcome to the January 2017 content of our national suicide prevention and mental health awareness project, developed with the support of the Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing.

Each month, our project team develops a series of 20 short radio segments designed to promote help-seeking behaviour and positive lifestyle choices, using interviews with service providers, as well as profiles of people who have successfully dealt with tough times in their lives.

What's in this month's segments?

  • This month we find out about the Heads Up website, which provides a wide range of resources, information and advice to help everyone in the workplace play their part in creating a mentally healthy working environment.
  • We hear about some practical tips the SANE Help Centre has developed to help us to deal with disappointments, let our feelings out, and put our problems in perspective.
  • We hear about the information, advice and support headspace provides to young people who are experiencing depression or are going through a tough time.
  • And we profile ReachOut.com, an anonymous web-based service that provides young people with information, support and skills to improve their mental health and get through tough times.
