Welcome to the June 2016 content of the CBAA's national suicide prevention and mental health awareness project, developed with the support of the Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing.

Each month, our project team develops a series of 20 short radio segments designed to promote help-seeking behaviour and positive lifestyle choices, using interviews with service providers, as well as profiles of people who have successfully dealt with tough times in their lives.

What's in this month's segments?

This month we:

  • catch up with Steven Oliver, an Aboriginal poet, comedian and performer who is a strong supporter of the work of R U OK? and encourages others to reach out to those they care about and start meaningful conversations.

  • hear from Suicide Prevention Australia’s head of communications Kim Borrowdale about some of the things she learnt during a recent trip to the UK after being awarded the first ever International Learning and Development Grant from The Ian Potter Foundation.

  • learn about The Big Stigma, a new headspace national awareness campaign aimed at informing Australians that the more we talk openly about mental health issues, the easier it becomes for young people to seek help for them.
