Welcome to the September 2019 content of our national suicide prevention and mental health awareness project, developed with the support of the Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing.

Each month, our project team develops a series of 20 short radio segments designed to promote help-seeking behaviour and positive lifestyle choices, using interviews with service providers, as well as profiles of people who have successfully dealt with tough times in their lives.

What's in this month's segments? This month we:
  • Learn about the National Communications Charter, which has been designed to guide the way organisations talk about mental health and suicide prevention, with each other and with the community.
  • We profile TUF Minds - Life Rescue, an innovative mental well-being and suicide prevention program that is provided as a smartphone app.
  • We hear about INSIST, a new suicide prevention training program for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities, and
  • We catch up with the team at R U OK? and talk about the work they are doing to build the confidence of all Australians in recognising when someone might be struggling so that they ‘Trust the Signs, Trust their Gut and Ask R U OK?’.
