Consultation on digital radio channel planning for Hobart, Canberra, Darwin and the Gold Coast

Following the announcement of digital radio extension beyond the five capital cities, the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) has outlined the general approach and planning principles for regional Australia.

The ACMA has proposed specific digital radio channel plans for Hobart, Canberra, Darwin, together with the Gold Coast and a revision of the current Brisbane digital radio channel plan. Read the ACMA's announcement and access the channel plans for more information.

As a member of the Digital Radio Planning Committee for Regional Australia, the CBAA welcomes the extension of digital radio and will continue active involvement in the planning process generally and specifically in relation to the community radio sector:

For over 40 years, Australian Governments have been committed to community radio standing alongside commercial and national networks on the available technology as part of a primary set of media services freely accessible to the public.
