George Gershwin was one of the most significant American composers of the 20th century, known for popular stage and screen numbers as well as classical compositions. From Canberra's ArtSound FM, The Gershwin Project is a 26-part series celebrating George Gershwin’s life (1898 -1937) and catalogue of hundreds of songs, piano music and orchestral pieces. It features amazingly rare recordings as well as key examples of Gershwin’s well-known works and the artists who performed them.

Originally produced in 2010, The Gershwin Project subsequently played on English-speaking stations in Europe, and the American Ambassador to Australia requested copies of the program for both himself, the Gershwin family heirs, President Obama and the Library of Congress in Washington DC.  Series produced by Len Power and narrated by Bill Stephens.

This series is now available for local replay on your station, through the Community Radio Network.
