Homeschooling On The Rise

Homeschooling On The Rise was made on the lands of the Turrbal and Jagera, and we pay our respects to their elder’s past, present and emerging.

Coming up, from 4ZZZ in Brisbane, Max Rowley takes a look at education outside the school. In Australia, the last decade has seen a rise in homeschooling. While homeschooling is legal if families register, an estimated one and every two are going it alone and homeschooling outside the law. Trying to find out why this is, Max has found a world of parents torn between protecting their child and obeying the law. Just a heads up – there’s mention of self-harm in this story. If you or someone you know needs someone to talk to, you can call Lifeline on 13 11 14.
