In July 2011, the Federal Government passed new Workplace Safety Legislation to be implemented by all states and territories as of 1 January 2012, later in some states.

The legislative changes are relevant to the Community Broadcasting sector as some of the changes affect volunteer organisations.

Safe Work Australia has detailed relevant information on their website and stations should also check the website of their state based WHS authority for further details on the impact of the changes.

Abstract
This study provides a snapshot of the community radio sector in Wales, just over ten years since its inception. It does so at a time of economic instability and focuses on issues pertaining to social gain and sustainability. The McLeish (1986) definition of a radio interview as a ‘conversation with an aim’ (McLeish, 1986) is borrowed here, as an analogy with which to explore the ‘conversations’ between the community radio stations of Wales and others.
