Never Gonna Let the Language Go Away was made on Arrernte land, and we pay our respects to their elder’s past, present and emerging.

A warning for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander listeners - this piece contains the names and voices of people who have passed on.

8CCC’s MJ Bakewell tells the story is the long battle for language justice in the courts of the Northern Territory, and the remarkable story of the man who fought for Aboriginal people to understand, and be understood: Interpreter and activist Yami Lester.

Another heads up – there’s also mention of suicide in this story. If you or someone you know needs someone to talk to, you can call Lifeline on 13 11 14.

Produced by MJ Bakewell for 8CCC in Alice Springs which sits on Arrente Country.

Supervising Production by Belina Lopez.

If you were impacted by the mention of suicide in this piece and would like to talk to someone, call Lifeline on 13 11 14.
