A First Nations Digital Radio Special Broadcast

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island communities are advised that this archive of a live broadcast special event from 2015, may contain images, written text and voices of people who have died.

Radio NAIDOC, was a celebration of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island culture, and was broadcast live across DAB+ digital community radio stations nationally on Wednesday July 8th during NAIDOC Week 2015. Radio NAIDOC was a collaborative showcase of four First Nations radio stations; Noongar Radio (Perth), 3KND Kool 'n' Deadly (Melbourne)Koori Radio (Sydney) and 98.9 Digital (Brisbane). The broacast rallied around the key theme for NAIDOC week that year; We all Stand on Sacred Ground: Learn, Respect & Celebrate. 

Radio NAIDOC's 12-hour broadcast showcased Aboriginal Torres Strait Island community current affairs, interviews and live music from across the country with live crosses betwen the four staions throughout the day & evening, across time zones and country. 

The Radio NAIDOC Special Broadcast 2015 was headed by Karen Dorante, Executive Producer from 98.9FM & 98.9 Digital

UNNA YA FULLAS: LIVE PERTH NAIDOC CONCERT AT PERTH CULTURAL CENTRE (NOONGAR RADIO Perth)

Wayne Bynder & well-known Noongar local Jim Morrison present an afternoon of entertainment live from the Wetland Stage featuring Perth NAIDOC Artist of the Year Gina Williams and Guy Ghouse, and other exceptional musical acts, including Struggling Kings, Delta Oui and Tamaree.

YORGAS YARNING NAIDOC WEEK SPECIAL (NOONGAR RADIO Perth) 

Yorgas Yarning is an established talks program at Noongar Radio broadcast on Tuesday evenings at 6pm with a repeat on Saturday mornings. Yorgas Yarning is a collection of women broadcasters who are all professionals in their chosen fields who discuss all the issues facing Indigenous Australians.

MAKING  TRACKS: NAIDOC WEEK SPECIAL (KR00/KOORI RADIO Sydney) 

Emily Nicol hosts Making Tracks, a deadly Indigenous music, arts and culture show. Tune in for a great mix of music, theatre, film and entertainment guide, interviews with our top artists and live music and comedy. We acknowledge the traditional custodians of this beautiful country past and present that we broadcast from - the Gadigal people of the Eora Nation. Making Tracks airs on Koori Radio 93.7FM/KR00 Monday-Thursday 3-6pm Friday 3-4pm.

8PM-9PM

LET'S TALK TREATY: CLOSE OF BROADCAST (98.9 DIGITAL)

A Let's Talk panel discussion on treaty Monica Morgan, Wayne Butcher, Warren Mundine and Nicole Watson hosted by Tiga Bayles. A Radio NAIDOC close, with Executive producer Karen Dorante of 98.9.

 

The Radio NAIDOC Special Broadcast 2015 was broadcast live Wednesday July 8th, 2015, from 9am - 9pm, via local metro digital radio services on DAB+ in the following cities:

*The broadcast was also streamed online via NIRS on the day. 

The broadcast was financially assisted by the Community Broadcasting Foundation, and recieved support of the NIRS National Indigenous News Service, The Digital Radio Project at the CBAA, and the CRN Community Radio Network.
