The Talent (3MBS)

3MBS Fine Music Melbourne's new live performance program is underway and members of the public can get involved.

The Talent is a new live performance program created by 3MBS Fine Music Melbourne which seeks to highlight upcoming musicians who are currently studying at tertiary institutions or have recently graduated.

There will be 24 one hour episodes, which will be split up into four ‘seasons’. See the episodes list for more information.

An ever changing panel of two industry professionals will join presenter Barbara Gee for each episode. They will provide feedback, encouragement and advice to the participants. There will be a ‘resident’ panelist across each series, and a guest panelist for each episode. The ‘resident’ panelists are: Peter Burch (Music Critic and former Head of Musica Viva Victoria), Zoe Knighton (Cellist – Flinders Quartet), Monica Curro (Violinist – The Melbourne Symphony Orchestra) and Marshall McGuire (Harpist, and Host of 3MBS’ recent ‘Inside Out’ series).

Listeners will be encouraged to vote for their favorite performers via our website. Nine performers/ensembles will be asked back for a second episode as a result of this voting process, and feedback from the panel. This second round of episodes will feature one performer or ensemble per episode, and will allow for more in-depth discussion of the performances and repertoire. The series will culminate in a final episode, in which the top three performers/ensembles will be announced, and prizes will be awarded.

The Talent can be heard in Melbourne on 103.5FM or digital radio, as well as online at the 3MBS site. It is also available to stations for rebroadcast through the Community Radio Network's Fine Music Live slot, playing Sundays from 18:00 EDT during November and December.
