US Ambassador to Australia visits JOY studios

The US Ambassador to Australia, Mr John Berry recently visited the studios of JOY 94.9 in Melbourne.

JOY 94.9 is the only gay and lesbian community radio station in Australia. Ambassador Berry was given a personal tour of the station by General Manager, Conrad Browne, President, Jed Gilbert and Vice President, Trish Kerin.

Following his tour the Ambassador was interviewed by Pete Dillon, with the interview broadcast in its entirety on 'Saturday Magazine', a flagship JOY 94.9 News and Current Affairs program.

The Ambassador's visit was a first by a serving US Ambassador to JOY 94.9. Ambassador Berry is one of only a small number of openly gay men appointed by any nation as their ambassador. The Ambassador lives in Canberra with his partner. Ambassador Berry spoke of his ambitions for the Australian/USA relationship alliance and his position on GLBTI rights.
