VALE BRUCE FLARRETY

26.07.1932 - 11.04.2023

The CBAA was deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Bruce Flarrety, who passed away following a battle with prostate cancer on 11 April this year.

He is survived by his daughter Suzanne Williams, son-in-law John and granddaughters Jade, Amelia and Aria, and also Jemma, William and Paris from his late son John Britton.

Bruce was a beloved member of the 2RRR community for almost 27 years, having launched his signature Tuesday Midday Jazz program in September of 1996.

He was a long-serving Board Member whose roles included Finance Director, Grant Administrator and most recently Radio Training Officer. He was also seen as a key source of advice on all manner of station affairs.

Bruce had previously described one of his proudest moments as being his induction as a Life Member of 2RRR, and in the words of 2RRR Chairperson Dino Mancini, "Bruce could well have earned a second life membership with acclaim.”

The CBAA would like to offer its sincere condolences to 2RRR as an organisation, its listeners, and Bruce's family.

Bruce's dedication and commitment to 2RRR has left an indelible mark that will be difficult to fill. We hope that his efforts will inspire others to continue the great work he started.
