SYN Media is celebrating the final show of Queer Youth On Air with the chance for young Melburnians to have lunch with the on-air team as part of the Festival of SYN this Saturday 13 April.

Queer Youth on Air is hosted by 13 young people aged between 17 and 23 years of age who took up hosting duties in 2012.

The event takes place as part of the Access and Diversity forum on Saturday which includes Q and A sessions with SYN’s other access programs such as UnScriptured (religion and spirituality) and Change Reaction (International aid and development).

SYN was one of eight organisations to receive a state government grant for projects promoting better mental health in young LGBTI people and is encouraging more young people to get involved.

“Queer Youth on Air is a great opportunity for us to teach some new skills and give a new platform to young same-sex attracted and gender diverse Victorians,” SYN General Manager Tahlia Azaria said.

Now, this Saturday 13th April young Melburnians who identify as LGBTI have the opportunity to have lunch with the hosts and watch them present the program.

"At SYN we aim to be a platform and opportunity for young people from all walks of life to contribute to the media conversation,” said Ms Azaria.

The Festival of SYN is on now at the House of SYN – 16 Cardigan St, Carlton - from April 8 to 14 2013 with workshops being held from 9am until late.

The lunch with Queer Youth on Air will be held this Saturday 13 April.
