Organising a live music event is no small task - and when it comes to music festivals, the challenges can seem insurmountable. The CBAA recently caught up with three stations that organise festivals - RTRFM, 4MBS and 8CCC - to learn more about the challenges they've faced and how they've navigated them. The 2023-2024 Federal Budget was handed down last night by the Treasurer Jim Chalmers. Budget papers show the allocation to the Community Broadcasting Program has increased in dollar amount because it has been indexed to keep up with rising costs, which is now part of ongoing budget policy.

The CBAA is saddened to hear of the passing of The Hon Tony Staley AO, who died in Melbourne, aged 83. Mr Staley was a former Liberal Party president and former MP for the Victorian seat of Chisholm. In his role as Minister for Post and Telecommunications he had a profound impact on broadcast media in Australia and was instrumental in the development and growth of the community broadcasting sector.

Each month, our project team develops a series of 20 short radio segments designed to promote help-seeking behaviour and positive lifestyle choices, using interviews with service providers, as well as profiles of people who have successfully dealt with tough times in their lives.

The CBAA was deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Bruce Flarrety, who passed away following a battle with prostate cancer on 11 April this year. Bruce was a beloved member of the 2RRR community for almost 27 years, having launched his signature Tuesday Midday Jazz program in September of 1996.

Community Radio Goes Digital on the Gold Coast 1

The Community Broadcasting Association of Australia (CBAA) has officially launched digital audio broadcasting (DAB+) for community radio stations on the Gold Coast. Three stations, 4CRBJuice, and Radio Metro, will be available to audiences via free-to-air DAB+ digital radio across the Gold Coast following a testing period that commenced in September 2022. This makes these three stations the first community radio stations to broadcast via DAB+ outside of Australia's capital cities.
