Henson Park, Marrickville
Sunday August 17

The revered turf of Henson Park, home ground of the legendary Newtown Jets, will host the 3rd instalment of Sydney’s newest sporting contest - the Reclink Community Cup.

The Community Cup is a charity AFL match between the Western Walers (made up of Sydney musicians) and the Sydney Sailors (community radio and media personalities), with the Sailors having taken the honours in the first two years. Guest coaches and players have included the likes of Jude Bolton, Brett Kirk, Adam Spencer, Damien Lovelock, Dan Sultan and many more.

Whilst the teams and punters share a friendly rivalry, the day is all about raising funds and awareness for Reclink – a charity that targets some of the community’s most vulnerable and isolated people. Reclink aids those who are experiencing mental illness, disability, homelessness, substance abuse and social and economic hardship by bringing sporting and arts programs to them through their network of over 580 member agencies nationally.

The 2014 Sydney Reclink Community Cup hits Henson Park in Marrickville on Sunday August 17 with gates at 12.00pm. Entry is by gold coin donation and is 100% family and dog friendly. The Community Cup is licensed and strictly no BYO. Henson Park is a smoke free venue.
