Now in its 35th installment after having first commenced in 1976 (with a few years off in the late 70's and early 80's) the 4ZZZ HOT 100 is the annual countdown that celebrates the best in home grown and overseas talent from year to year and is guaranteed to kick off your 2015 with a bang!

The Hot 100 gives 4ZZZ listeners a chance to vote for their favourite tunes released and broadcast on 4ZZZ between November 2013 and November 2014. Voters can choose up to 20 tracks from a huge selection of suggested songs, or can choose to add up to 10 of their own selections if they meet the criteria, check the website for guidelines and how to vote.

The countdown will be broadcast live on 4ZZZ 102.1FM from midday, 1 January 2015. If you're not in Brisbane to listen live, you can always stream the countdown online or on your mobile device.

January 1 2015 is also the start of 4ZZZ’s 40th Birthday year, with some fantastic events and programming planned for throughout the year in the lead up to December 8, the date of the first 4ZZZ broadcast back in 1975.

Abstract
Community radio in Australia, and community media in general, has received increased attention from academics in recent years. Forde et al (2002) highlight the need for further study into news and current affairs programming in the community broadcasting sector, saying that they are keen to discover more about its format and content, especially in terms of the attitudes and practices of information-based program producers. This paper attempts to clarify some of these issues by outlining the results of a case study of information-based programming at Brisbane community radio 4ZzZ and adopting a modified citizen’s media framework.
