On Sunday 25th May, Eastside Radio 89.7 will celebrate cycling culture and the art of green living at the second annual East Side Ride in Centennial Park, Sydney.

The free community event will encourage Sydneysiders to get on their bikes with workshops and demonstrations available from cycling and sustainable living experts alongside live music, fashion shows and some of the city’s best organic food.

Eastside Radio station manager, Tony Smythe, said raising awareness and boosting knowledge about cycling was the priority for this year’s event. “The more cyclists with greater skills and awareness means increased safety for all road users, less cars on the road and an overall better transport environment for Sydney.”

Visitors are encouraged to ride to the free event where they will be greeted by BIKESydney’s valet parking team before the day kicks off with a free yoga class from Redfern’s House of Yoga accompanied by the atmospheric sounds of Jake Meadows’ electric harp.

Throughout the day, attendees can browse the latest cycling fashions thanks to bespoke women’s clothing range Cyclette and stylish reflective gear retailers Monkey See; discuss route planning with Try2Wheels; or win passes to see the cycling documentary feature film Rising from the Ashes, narrated and directed by the Academy Award winning Forest Whitaker.

For those wanting to sit back and soak up the atmosphere, a delicious range of organic and wholesome food and beverage options will be available along with live music performed from roots reggae trio Declan Kelly & the Rising Sun and acclaimed funk soul group Tina Harrod Electric.

Rounding out the jam-packed program will be workshops from Edible Kids Garden where expert advice will be offered to both children and adults alike on growing organic produce and green living within the home.
