From general programming to special projects, JOY 94.9 continues to deliver on its mission and purpose: to provide a voice for the diverse lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, queer and allied communities, enabling freedom of expression, the breaking-down of isolation and the celebration of our culture, achievements and pride.

Celebrate with JOY 94.9 as they present a month-long extravaganza of special events, interviews, music and more to mark this momentous milestone.

On Monday 1 December, JOY 94.9 will be holding a free exhibition and outside broadcast live from the Melbourne Town Hall’s Yarra Room. JOY will look back at the people, music, interviews, events and more that have brought 21 years of amazing radio. The broadcast will acknowledge the hard work and dedication of the individuals and organisations who contribute to HIV and AIDS support and awareness, and JOY 94.9’s contribution to this and other important LGBTIQ community issues.

A collection of JOY memorabilia will be on display, highlighting the station’s history and involvement in significant community events across the past 21 years. This event is free and all are welcome to attend. JOY 94.9 thanks the City of Melbourne for their sponsorship of this event. Further information is available at the JOY 94.9 website.

JOY 94.9's birthday also coincides with World AIDS Day, an opportunity for people worldwide to unite in the fight against HIV, show their support for people living with HIV and to commemorate those who have passed. Various events in the lead-up to and on the day are available here.

Happy birthday to JOY 94.9!
