CBX: May 2014

The May edition of the CBX, the magazine of the CBAA, is out now!

In this issue, we take a detailed look at the sector’s history as we reach a milestone of 40 years since the introduction of the community radio sector. Former CBAA President John Martin gives us a timeline of community radio, and details the early events that paved the way for the community radio sector to become what it is today.

We shine the light on Tasman FM, a station that is now 100% solar powered, allowing them to provide vital emergency services even when the power is down.

We check in with the CBAA’s Community Radio Network (CRN) to learn about their developments which continue to provide the sector with top quality content made by our member stations.

We also speak to Australian musician Dan Sultan about his continued involvement with the sector and his appointment as a Community Radio Amrap Ambassador and look back on our Digital Radio Project’s innovative pop-up service Girls To The Mic.
