National Awards for Local Government 2014
Nominations are now open for the National Awards for Local Government 2014.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Warren Truss is encouraging all local governments to take part in the awards.
“Local governments play a vital role in Australian communities, delivering innovative, resourceful solutions to complex local problems,” Mr Truss said.
“The national awards give local governments the opportunity to share knowledge and experience, to gain recognition, and to grow as a sector.”
Mr Truss noted there are 565 local governing bodies around Australia finding and implementing solutions to diverse community needs.
“Local governments make such an important contribution to communities right across Australia, providing essential services, planning for economic and social growth and continually meeting challenges with innovative solutions,” he said.
Nominations for the National Awards for Local Government will be accepted by the Department of Infrastructure and Regional Development until close of business on 21 March 2014.
