Youth run community broadcaster SYN Media has appointed 40 young volunteers to leadership positions that will take charge of the organisation in 2014.

The leadership positions will be entirely responsible for programming SYN’s radio, television and online platforms. A full list of the positions is available here.

SYN's leadership positions run for a full year and are an important opportunity for young people to get hands on experience in management and production.

Incoming SYN Radio Programming Manager, Chiara-Rose Kemp, says 2014 is going to be filled with innovation from SYNners across all aspects of the organisation.

"It will be an exciting year full of brand new programming as well as one which will provide a variety of new opportunities for young people in the media", says Kemp.

“I am most excited about the content that our young people create. It amazes me that such a variety of ideas can come to life through SYN”.

SYN General Manager Tahlia Azaria agrees and says there are more surprises to come next year.

“We've always got big plans and new ideas on the table, but in 2014 we're taking it up a notch and we're looking forward to making an announcement about that in the next few days. It's going to be a huge, defining year in SYN's history so the incoming leadership team definitely have their work cut out for them,” says Azaria.

SYN's achievements were recognised last week at the Community Broadcasting Association of Australia's annual award ceremony, with the organisation picking up the Excellence in Training award for Schools on Air.

SYN provides training and broadcast opportunities to over 1000 people aged 12 to 26 every year.
