Kalamunda Community Radio may have found a new premises following a local council decision to offer KCR-FM the opportunity to lease 36 Collins Road Kalamunda.

The news couldn't come at a better time for the station as their current lease expires at the end of November.

Reporting on the story, Radioinfo have interviewed station management who are very thankful for local council’s support and delighted by the positive outcome.

'Our members have certainly been concerned about the sale of Mead Street, which the station has operated from for more than 10 years,' says KCR Chairperson Neil Mackay.

'The existence of KCR-FM as a community radio station is important because it is a vital communication tool which serves the community and allows individuals and groups to have their voices heard. The Shire of Kalamunda is home to an uncommon diversity of people, with a variety of lifestyles, all living and working side-by-side. KCR-FM is aware of a large number of listeners, and the music and programme styles reflect that diversity of the community.'

Having secured the lease on the new premises, the station now begins the process to secure funding for the move.
