On Saturday 8 February between 9am and 5pm AEST, CRN’s new CRN2 channel is pleased to present live coverage from the 5th anniversary celebrations at the prestigious Melbourne Recital Centre.

There will be live performances of artists and bands from a broad range of genres - from early music, baroque and classical, to jazz, neo-soul, world music and some quite contemporary new music.

Artists include the MSO Chamber Ensemble, improvisational jazz duo Manins/Gould, multicultural group The Habibis, cellist Zoe Knighton, rootsy songstress Abbie Cardwell, flautist Laila Engle, baroque specialists Ludivico’s Band and Latitude 37, Ethiopian band Bitsat Seyoum, the contemporary Syzygy Ensemble and the Melbourne Chamber Orchestra.

This special 8-hour event will be a broadcast-ready radio program, with links between performances, and additional live interviews, ranging from key performers to the Victorian Minister for the Arts, and some of the influential people who helped build the MRC in the early years.

There will be live audio from both the 1,000-seat Elisabeth Murdoch Hall and 120-seat Salon, as well as recordings from concerts at the MRC over the last 5 years. The MRC is an incredible music venue, regularly presenting elite musicians from Australia and around the world.

Stations are welcome to rebroadcast the full event, or drop in and out as it suits. More information about the schedule is available here.

Live broadcast on CRN-2 (channel 631) - Sat 8 Feb - 09:00 to 17:00 EDT.

The name of the show seems almost onomatopoeic. From The Pulse in Geelong, Hot, Sweet & Jazzy invites listeners to relax deep into the passenger seat, and shine the headlights towards the people behind the players.
