Gavin was a respected and widely admired figure and leader of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community. “With much respect,  the staff of the CBAA and the Community Radio Network (CRN) join me in mourning the loss of Gavin Jones. As the founder of the Deadly Sounds radio program, the Deadly Awards and Vibe magazine, his passing is an immeasurable loss, not only to Australia’s indigenous community, but to the entire country. His many-faceted efforts have been essential in widening the Australian public’s knowledge and understanding of indigenous issues, and his work and legacy will be long remembered in the hearts of those that he touched.”
