Walangari Karntawarra - Voice of the Community
Walangari Karntawarra recently spoke of the importance and value of Aboriginal media at Voice of the Community, an event hosted by Spots & Space, I&G and Aboriginal Media organisations from around Australia.
Colin Walangari Karntawarra McCormack is an Australian Aboriginal elder from Alice Springs who now lives and works in Sydney. He is an international award winning 'Central Western Desert' painter and his colourful and spellbinding works tell the traditional Dreaming Stories of the world’s oldest living culture.
Walangari has a strong commitment to helping ensure the voice of Aboriginal Australia is heard – he has chaired the Central Australian Aboriginal Media Association (CAAMA) and been a director of the first Aboriginal owned television station, Imparja.
