Webinar: Youth in Community Media

Presented by Jonathan Brown, Tess Lawley & Corrine Brislin, this webinar will discuss the value of youth volunteers at your station.

One of the guiding principles of community broadcasting is to pursue access and equity for people and issues not adequately represented in other media. An important element of this is for the sector to provide a voice for youth and youth issues. In addition to this, the webinar will also serve as a precursor to the youth caucus to be held at the 2014 CBAA Conference.

Who is this webinar for?

This webinar is for youth involved in Australian community radio and television stations, stations for whom youth broadcasting reflects the needs of their community of interest and people at stations and stations looking to broaden youth involvement at their organisation.

About the Presenters

Jonathan Brown - CBAA Board Member and an individual with extensive experience as both a youth broadcaster and a manager of youth at community broadcasting organisations.

Tess Lawley - National Youth Media Project Coordinator at SYN Media. Tess will discuss SYN Nation, a brand new youth digital station featuring young broadcasters from across Australia.

Corrine Brislin - Harvey Community Radio presenter and winner of the 2013 CBAA Award for Outstanding Youth Contribution, Corrine has been a presneter at her station since her early teens, using community radio to further pursue initiatives that will make life better for young people in her community.
