CBF Grants - Fostering youth leadership

A second round of General - Sustainability & Development grants is now open and as a priority, the Community Broadcasting Foundation (CBF) are keen to receive applications that propose innovative projects that will foster youth leadership in the community broadcasting sector or will empower young people to become successful leaders and create positive change in community broadcasting.

You can apply for a Sustainability and Development grant if you are:

• a community radio station with a long-term or a temporary licence (N.B. A station with a temporary licence must have been on air for at least two years cumulatively prior to applying).

• a state, regional or national community broadcasting association

Examples of youth leadership projects may include:

• a stream within a community broadcasting conference focused on youth issues and interests that offers ideas, resources and connections for young people to take on a more active leadership role in the sector.

• a mentorship project for young people in positions of leadership or governance at stations or within the sector. This may take the form of professional mentoring, training, networking, skill building, learning and recognition of their work.

• a Young Leadership program that involves the exchange of ideas between existing youth leaders across the sector with the aim to increasing the number of young people in key sector roles.
