Rob Popplestone to lead Radio Adelaide

Radio Adelaide Chairman Iain Evans has announced Radio Adelaide's new General Manager -  Rob Popplestone.

“Rob brings a wealth of radio and media experience to Radio Adelaide. With over a decade in community radio, Rob has great empathy and understanding of the community radio culture,” Mr Evans said.

“Combine this with more than 25 years in media including over a decade in commercial radio, Rob will be a real asset for us.

“Radio Adelaide is going through an exciting transition and Rob’s volunteer experience and corporate connections will be of great value to Radio Adelaide,” Mr Evans said.

“The Radio Adelaide community is broadly respected for its passion and commitment, to delivering a real radio alternative for South Australia and beyond. You can’t help but be impressed with the quality of programs already being produced,” Mr Popplestone said.

“What lays ahead is an exciting opportunity to deliver even more community based programs to an even larger audience whilst also being commercially independent,” Mr Popplestone said.

“Not only are we announcing an experienced General Manager we are also pleased to announce a strong board,” Mr Evans said.

Vice President Andrea Michaels is Managing Director of NDA Law one of Adelaide’s most innovative law firms. Andrea is Chairperson of the Law Society Commercial Law Committee and Chairperson of the Family Business Australia State Advisory Committee. Andrea also brings significant experience in the not-for-profit sector.

Joanna Chronis brings a wealth of finance and commercial experience to the board. Joanna is an experienced executive, business leader and Director (GAICD), passionate about strategic efficacy, effective leadership, business transformation, cultural change and governance. Joanna is currently COO of Comunet and on the Wine Future Advisory Board of the Adelaide University.

Dr Charlotte Bedford complements the board with extensive academic, education and media experience, particularly in the community radio sector where she has had over 25 years’ experience both in Australia and the United Kingdom. She has been involved in community radio in the UK and numerous Australian states including SA, NT and QLD.

Nikki Marcel brings training, volunteer and community radio experience and has worked extensively with Radio Adelaide since starting with student radio in 1996. She has worked as program manager and trainer while producing and presenting a variety of arts current affairs social justice and music programs. Nikki coordinated an access program for the Australian Refugee Association, the first of its kind in Australia.
