3MDR Mountain District Radio 97.1fm presents: 'A Mountain of Sound 2012'
During 2012 Mountain District Radio 3MDR 97.1fm created live recordings from 52 musicians and bands – all from the Dandenong Ranges, to make 'Mountain of Sound 2012', a triple disc compilation CD, with a song for each week of the year.
The compilation features exclusive recordings from Lily & King, Wild Turkey, Jed Rowe, Steve Wade, Kate Crowley, Chris Cavill, Rachel by the Stream, Ben Kelly and many more.
The project was funded by Cardinia Shire’s Ranges Ward councillors Tania Baxter, Brett Owen and Leticia Wilmot as well as Yarra Ranges councillor Samantha Dunn, Amrap and a number of local businesses.
Sales of the 'Mountain of Sound 2012' album go directly back in to running live music at 3MDR and cover costs for equipment purchases, sound engineering, training workshops and mentoring programs.
3MDR President Robert Gearon says “The CD is great value at only $20 and we are looking forward to sales contributing to the innovative and on-going live music project being run at the station and giving further opportunity for local artists to have their music heard.”
3MDR broadcasts 24 hours every day on the 97.1fm band and is located on Main Road, Emerald, nestled in the forest covered Dandenong Ranges, 35km east of Melbourne.
