World Radio Day
13 February 2013 is World Radio Day, a day to celebrate radio as a medium; to improve international cooperation between broadcasters; and to encourage major networks and community radio alike to promote access to information and freedom of expression over the airwaves.
World Radio Day seeks to raise awareness about the importance of radio, facilitate access to information through radio and enhance networking among broadcasters.
AMARC is an international non-governmental organization serving the community radio movement, with members and associates in 130 countries. AMARC's goal is to support and contribute to the development of community and participatory radio along the principals of solidarity and international cooperation. World Radio Day 2013 coincides with AMARC's celebration of 30 years of empowering local communities.
As part of World Radio Day celebrations, JOY 94.9’s Wednesday Drive Show, The Royal Daltons, will be live to air with BBC London 94.9. Both stations will be linking up so that the presenters are broadcasting/talking to each other live on both stations at the same time. Listen live.
