Amongst a packed 2-day conference program, the CBAA's Media Lab is presented in partnership with the Community Media Training Organisation, and is your chance to do some hands-on training.  

Check out these limited capacity sessions below - we highly recommend pre-booking to secure your spot, which can be done when you register for the conference.

Media Lab Sessions: Skills Boost Series

In a new format for this year's conference, the Media Lab is offering an immersive 3-part "skills boost" program throughout the conference. Across Friday and Saturday, it will cover:

  1. Interviewing in the Field
  2. Editing Techniques
  3. Mastering Techniques

Presented by Nick Dunkerley, Hindenburg.
It's recommended you book into all three sessions. 

Media Lab Sessions: Skills For All

In these sessions, get the rundown on smartphone journalism and social tools for station volunteers.

Media Skills for All: Smart Phone Journalism
Learn how you can turn your smart phone into a one-person newsroom. Presented by Brad Marsellos, ABC. 

Media Skills for All: Social Tools for Station Volunteers
Learn about a range of online tools that make collaborating easy, whether it's scheduling meetings, getting volunteer input on an event or planning a program.

Media Lab Drop In

On Saturday morning and afternoon, the Media Lab is open for drop-in sessions. Come by to:

  • Get an introduction to the Hindenburg editing software.
  • Learn about training opportunities from the CMTO.
  • See the Radius EPG system in action with the Digital Radio Project (DRP).

The CBAA Conference is taking place from 9 - 12 November on the Gold Coast, Queensland.
