Membership Eligibility and Applications

The CBAA has three categories of membership: Permanent Community Broadcaster, Temporary Community Broadcaster or Aspirant Community Broadcaster.

Membership is open to organisations only.

Permanent Community Broadcaster CBAA Membership

For not-for-profit entities that hold a permanent community broadcasting licence under the Broadcasting Services Act and operate as a community broadcaster.
AGM voting status: two votes.

Fees

For stations with gross annual total income less than $50,000: minimum fee applicable is $510 (excl GST)
For stations with gross annual total income between $50,000 and $550,000: 1% of annual turnover (plus GST)
For stations with gross annual total income over $550,000: maximum fee applicable is $5,770 (excl GST)

Full members may pay the annual fee on an annual or monthly basis for the financial year (payable in July of each year).

Temporary Community Broadcaster CBAA Membership

For not-for-profit entities that hold a Temporary Community Broadcasting License (TCBL) under the Broadcasting Services Act and operate as a community broadcaster.
AGM voting status: one vote.

Fees

A flat annual fee is applicable: $280 (excl GST)
Membership fees are paid annually. Temporary Community Broadcaster members joining after 1 January in any year are charged 50% of the annual fee.

Aspirant Community Broadcaster CBAA Membership

For not-for-profit entities that intend in good faith to apply to hold a licence to operate a community broadcaster service under Part 6 of the Broadcasting Services Act.
No AGM voting status.

Fees

A flat annual fee is applicable: $260 (excl GST)
