The Community Broadcasting Association of Australia has today announced some changes that will ensure that the CBAA is positioned better than ever to support its members and champion community radio's role as a key pillar in Australian broadcasting.

This decision follows strategic planning undertaken in 2014, with the new structure designed to better leverage expertise and knowledge-sharing to support the CBAA in its capability building and sector leadership roles.

The change will see the organisation move from a project-based structure to a functional one and adopt a simplified management structure.

Key personnel updates include:

  • Chris Johnson will move to a new senior role as Head of Programs and Services. In this role, he will continue to oversee the management of CBAA’s successful Australian Music Radio Airplay Project (Amrap) and take a leadership role with the Community Radio Network. Chris will also lead the rollout of CBAA’s new Radio Website Services.
  • Tahlia Azaria will move to a new senior role as Head of Marketing and Engagement and will lead strategic programs that enhance the brand and reputation of the CBAA and community broadcasting, supporting revenue generation and overseeing strategic relationships with key stakeholders and ensuring effective service delivery to members.
  • Martin Walters will move into a role as CRN Operations Manager. He will assume day-to-day responsibility for the operation of the Community Radio Network.
  • Rhonda Byrne will take on the role of Head of Business Services.
  • Helen Henry will move into a role as Senior Communications Officer.

This change is effective today.
