Community Broadcasting Suicide Prevention Project - December 2021
What's in this month's segments?
Each month, our project team develops a series of 20 short radio segments designed to promote help-seeking behaviour and positive lifestyle choices, using interviews with service providers, as well as profiles of people who have successfully dealt with tough times in their lives.
This month we learn about LivingWorks I-ASIST, the world's first suicide intervention skills training program developed by, and for, Indigenous Australian communities.
We find out about the support you can access from Lifeline if you find the holiday period difficult, stressful or isolating.
We find out how we can make it easier for new and expectant parents we know to reach out for support if they need it.
We catch up with Annie Wylie from ReachOut to find out what young people can do if they’re getting super-stressed, tired or argumentative during the holiday period.
And we profile Kids Helpline, Australia’s only free, private and confidential 24/7 phone and online counselling service for young people aged 5 to 25.
