Welcome to the June 2018 content of our national suicide prevention and mental health awareness project, developed with the support of the Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing.

Each month, our project team develops a series of 20 short radio segments designed to promote help-seeking behaviour and positive lifestyle choices, using interviews with service providers, as well as profiles of people who have successfully dealt with tough times in their lives.

What's in this month's segments?
  • This month we catch up with SANE Australia Peer Ambassador, IT professional and life coach Simon Clark this month to get some advice on how to climb out of a down mood.
  • We look ahead to the National Suicide Prevention Conference, which will bring together a range of people and organisations working and researching in the area of suicide prevention, as well as people with a lived experience of suicide.
  • We learn about the information, strategies, forums and coaching ReachOut Parents provides to parents of teenagers.
  • We learn about headspace School Support, a program that aims to provide suicide prevention and bereavement support for students currently in school.
  • And beyondblue CEO Georgie Harman speaks to us about the common forms, signs and symptoms of anxiety, and reminds us that the sooner people with anxiety get support, the more likely they are to recover.
