Welcome to the October 2018 content of our national suicide prevention and mental health awareness project, developed with the support of the Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing.

Each month, our project team develops a series of 20 short radio segments designed to promote help-seeking behaviour and positive lifestyle choices, using interviews with service providers, as well as profiles of people who have successfully dealt with tough times in their lives.

What's in this month's segments?
  • We catch up with the team at SANE Australia to find out about some of the common misconceptions people have about depression and anxiety.
  • We profile beyondblue’s Personal best website, which is a great place to go if you’re looking to improve your mental health and wellbeing, or support those around you.
  • We look at the support PANDA’s National Perinatal Anxiety & Depression Helpline provides for expecting and new mums and dads from different cultural or language backgrounds who are depressed or anxious.
  • We profile the peer-supported telephone and web-based services QLife provides to LGBTI people of all ages around Australia.
  • And we catch up with the new ReachOut CEO to find out about the impacts of cyberbullying on young people, and ways parents and young people can prevent and deal with online bullying.
