Community Broadcasting Suicide Prevention Project - March 2023

The Community Broadcasting Association is pleased to welcome you to the March 2023 content of our national suicide prevention and mental health awareness project, developed with the support of the Australian Government Department of Health.

Each month, our project team develops a series of 20 short radio segments designed to promote help-seeking behaviour and positive lifestyle choices, using interviews with service providers, as well as profiles of people who have successfully dealt with tough times in their lives.

This month, we find out how Embrace Multicultural Mental Health is working to provide a national focus on mental health and suicide prevention for people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.

We catch up with the team at The Dax Centre to learn how art and creativity can be powerful avenues for promoting recovery from complex mental health issues and creating space for self-expression.

We find out about some of the symptoms which could indicate we’re experiencing anxiety and find out what we can do to seek some help and support if we’re affected by an anxiety condition.

We look at some of the ways we can create a workplace culture where people feel confident asking and answering the important question of ‘R U OK?’  

And we profile Roses in the Ocean, a suicide prevention organisation whose heart and soul are people with a lived experience of suicide.
