Community Broadcasting Suicide Prevention Project - May 2016
Welcome to the May 2016 content of the CBAA's national suicide prevention and mental health awareness project, developed with the support of the Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing.
Each month, our project team develops a series of 20 short radio segments designed to promote help-seeking behaviour and positive lifestyle choices, using interviews with service providers, as well as profiles of people who have successfully dealt with tough times in their lives.
What's in this month's segments?
This month we:
- hear about a revamped beyondblue campaign which is seeking to raise awareness of anxiety, with new research showing many Australians still have misconceptions about anxiety, or are unaware of the condition, its symptoms and treatment.
- speak with Deepak Vinayak, an inspirational man who has spent much of his time in Australia reaching out to those around him who need help and offering them practical help and support.
- profile the headspace Fathers campaign, which aims to open up the conversation between fathers and sons and raise awareness about important support services.
