Welcome to the May 2017 content of our national suicide prevention and mental health awareness project, developed with the support of the Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing.

Each month, our project team develops a series of 20 short radio segments designed to promote help-seeking behaviour and positive lifestyle choices, using interviews with service providers, as well as profiles of people who have successfully dealt with tough times in their lives.

What's in this month's segments?
  • This month we profile the Mates in Construction program, which aims to deliver better mental health and wellbeing outcomes for workers in the building and construction industry, and hear about the support HALT offers to tradies who experience mental illness.
  • We learn more about the support, help and information you can access from beyondblue if you’re concerned about anxiety or depression, or if you know someone who may need some help.
  • We catch up with the team at yourtown to find out about their programs for parents who feel like they’re struggling.
  • And we look at the support the Butterfly Foundation provides to the large numbers of Australians affected by eating disorders, and their families and friends.
