The Community Broadcasting Association is pleased to welcome you to the May 2023 content of our national suicide prevention and mental health awareness project, developed with the support of the Australian Government Department of Health.

Each month, our project team develops a series of 20 short radio segments designed to promote help-seeking behaviour and positive lifestyle choices, using interviews with service providers, as well as profiles of people who have successfully dealt with tough times in their lives.

This month, we learn about the Beyond Now suicide safety planning app and how it can help people to plan ahead for times when they’re in crisis.

We profile Sabrina’s Reach4Life, a Darwin-based organisation that aims to reduce the impact of suicide in their community through peer led support, advocacy, collaboration, information and awareness.

We catch up with the team at ReachOut to find out about the mental health impacts on young people as a result of stress about the cost of living.

We learn about Taking Stock, a free online wellbeing and suicide prevention tool designed by and for Australia’s farmers.

And we catch up with Peter Hayton, Chief Psychologist at The Banyans Healthcare, to find out why it’s important for bipolar disorder to be better understood.

For more information on this project, please contact the Community Broadcasting Association of Australia on (02) 9310 2999, or email: [email protected].

Segments can be accessed via the CRN box.
