The Community Broadcasting Association is pleased to welcome you to the September 2023 content of our national suicide prevention and mental health awareness project, developed with the support of the Australian Government Department of Health.

Each month, our project team develops a series of 20 short radio segments designed to promote help-seeking behaviour and positive lifestyle choices, using interviews with service providers, as well as profiles of people who have successfully dealt with tough times in their lives.

This month, we look at a new report by ReachOut which shows loneliness is a major issue for young people across the country, and that it's having a range of impacts on their lives.

We learn about the increasing support Parents Beyond Breakup provides to parents and grandparents experiencing trauma related to family breakdown and separation.

We profile the R U OK? neurodivergent hub, where you’ll find some great tips and resources that will help you to support neurodivergent friends, family members and colleagues.

We learn about the resources available at Yarn up, which is a safe place for First Nations young people hear from others, connect, and yarn anonymously.

And we look at a new report prepared by Orygen, in partnership with Mission Australia, which highlights the significant impact of climate concerns on the mental health of young people in Australia.

For more information on this project, please contact the Community Broadcasting Association of Australia on (02) 9310 2999, or email: [email protected]

Segments can be accessed via the CRN box.
