Toolkit for your next AGM

With the AGM season about to begin, now is a good time for stations to remember the importance of well-run, legally-compliant meetings.

Many community radio stations have found themselves in breach of the law because they have arranged their AGM at the last minute.

Organisations that are underprepared for their AGM can find themselves:

  • not giving their members sufficient notice of the meeting;
  • mishandling the election of their officers;
  • incorrectly handling those votes cast by proxy; or
  • forgetting to notify regulators of decisions made at the meeting.

With this in mind, our friends at Mills Oakley Lawyers have prepared an AGM Toolkit to help you be as prepared as possible for your next AGM. The AGM Toolkit is a practical legal guide for charities and not-for-profits that outlines key requirements with respect to holding AGMs. It guides organisations through the issues arising before, during, and after the AGM, and includes a template 'Notice of Meeting' to get you started.

The AGM Toolkit and other resources to help you manage your AGM can be found here.
