Members of 5THE FM in Millicent and the wider community are mourning the loss of Boyd Groenveld who passed away on Sunday 22 March 2015. His wife was by his side.

Boyd was diagnosed with an aggressive brain tumour in February 2014, but succumbed last weekend after a determined battle.

Boyd was the current Chairman of 5THE FM and had been involved with the station since its inception over 21 years ago.

He was renowned in his role as a local solicitor for his generosity and knowledge. He provided a lifetime of legal advice to 5THE FM, wrote their constitution and chaired almost every AGM in the history of the station.

He was recently presented with an award from the 5THE FM Board for his outstanding contribution to station.

Boyd is survived by his cherished wife Helen and adored teenage son Konrad.
