Since 1978, Mark ‘The Colonel’ Doherty has presented Nothin’ But The Blues, week-in, week-out on 4ZZZ in Brisbane and for the last two decades nationally on the Community Radio Network.

The November 2018 edition of CBX features Australian Prison Radio, good governance tips, a look a how partnerships can strengthen your station, and the work of Community Broadcasting Foundation (CBF) Volunteer Grant Assessors and more. 

The CBAA, as the sector organisation representing the majority of community radio licensees, is responsible for coordinating the Community Radio Broadcasting Codes of Practice review. The review will continue in 2019.

The Annual General Meeting for the Community Broadcasting Association of Australia (CBAA) held on November 10, saw a changing of the guard for some positions, as the board welcomed three new members and two were farewelled.

Katharina has taken home the 2018 CBAA Community Radio Award in the National Features and Documentary Series category for her radio documentary The Runners’ Guide.

First and foremost, it is an exciting time to be in community radio, not least due to record breaking national listening audience of 5.7 million listeners per week.

It is with great sadness that the CBAA acknowledge the passing of broadcaster Deirdre Cobbin (known on air as Ruby Vincent) on the evening of Sunday 14 October 2018. 

The finalists for the 2018 CBAA Community Radio Awards for the best in Australia’s community broadcasting sector have been announced.
